RTO Full Form: Regional Transport Office
RTO Full Form is Regional Transport Office, and it is an Indian Government organization that is responsible to maintain a database of drivers and vehicles for various states of India. RTO works under the directive of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
RTO also responsible for issuing of driving license, vehicle pollution certificate and insurance, to the new drivers, and it also collects vehicle excise duty which is also known as road tax and road fund license.
RTO collects all the data related to the vehicle, its owner and driver driving license details and this data comes very usefully during the investigation of any crime which includes any vehicle.
- To get the vehicle registration certificate the owner of the vehicle can apply at RTO office and he would get a duplicate copy of the certificate.
- A complaint should be lodged to the police station which is situated under the jurisdiction/area of lost before approaching the regional transport officer. After completing the formalities, the owner has to submit FORM 26 and the Police Certificate to the Registering Authority along with the required documents for applying a duplicate vehicle registration certificate.
