DVD Full Form: Digital Versatile Disc/Digital Video Disc
DVD Full Form is Digit Versatile Disc, it is also known as Digital Video Disc . It is an optical disc storage device that is used to store high-quality data which includes Audio, Videos, Software, and even Operating Systems. To read data from the DVD we require a DVD player. Though the size and dimensions of a Compact Disk(CD) are similar to DVD, the latter provides a better quality storing format. These days we do not use DVDs so often because now we have other mediums to save and shear data, but 6 to 7 years back it was very popular. Various tech companies used to manufacture and sell different types of DVDs, and amongst all the types, DVD-ROM was mostly used by the people.
Moreover, in DVD-ROM, data can be read not written or erased by the user.
The initial development of the DVD started in 1993 and it was supported by companies like Philips and Sony. In 1993, developers of Sony and Philips were working on a Multimedia Compact Disc (MMCD), and by 1995 they had created a disc that was capable of storing any kind of data format. Before the press release of MMCD in 1995, Philips and Sony dropped the name Multimedia Compact Disc (MMCD) and replaced it with DVD, so the first-ever DVD was released in 1995.
DVD is capable of storing data in Gigabytes, though there are different versions and size of DVD’s which alter its capacity.
