Additionally, it handles tasks that would be impossible and time-consuming for humans.

    For human beings, the smallest unit of time is considered a second. However, for computers, it is milliseconds, microseconds, nanoseconds, and microseconds. They can handle billions to trillions of instructions per second, depending on the computer architecture, processor, and instruction set and its complexity.

    2. Accuracy

    Another characteristic of computer systems is accuracy. As they are programmed beforehand to perform tasks, they generate accurate results. They carry out any operation, whether performing a simple calculation or executing a complex algorithm, with high accuracy and precision, which is almost 100%.

    The accuracy and precision of computer systems make them an inevitable device in the fields of scientific research, engineering , financial institutions, and other fields where accuracy is paramount.

    There may be the occurrence of minimal errors in computer systems. However, it may be due to errors in input given by humans. Hence, the popular term GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) is widely used for computer accuracy. This means if the input is inaccurate, so does the output.

    One of the most interesting characteristics of computer systems is diligence. Unlike humans, they do not get tired and lose concentration due to continuous and constant work. They can perform repetitive, mundane tasks for hours without errors and glitches.

    What's more remarkable is that computers maintain accuracy and speed regardless of the number of jobs they perform. The power supply is the only requirement for computers to work for long periods.

    Versatility is another characteristic of computer systems that has contributed to their widespread popularity. Hence, a computer is not simply a calculating machine now.

    Computer systems can process billions of instructions and work continuously without errors or flaws. Hence, they are consistent. We can use them for long hours without any disturbance, providing the power supply.

    Additionally, computers generate consistent results. This means they generate the same output if you feed the same data multiple times.

    Another significant characteristic of computer systems is memory, which stores huge amounts of data. Here, memory refers to the primary memory , i.e., RAM (Random Access Memory). It is a volatile memory that stores data temporarily. As soon as the computer shuts down, it loses all the data it stores.

    Another type of memory in computer systems is ROM (Read Only Memory). It is a non-volatile memory that stores data permanently and does not lose it even if the system shuts down.

    There are units of memory that measure its storage capacity. These units are megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), and terabytes (TB).

    Computer memory is responsible for its storage capacity. Modern computers come with an increased storage capacity, allowing you to store more data. Besides the computer’s primary memory for storage, there is an option for secondary memory , known as backup or additional memory.

    Being a machine made of various components, a computer has no feelings and no human-like brain. Programmed or instructed to perform different tasks, it does not have its own intelligence. It lacks the ability to think and feel like humans.

    Computers rely solely on input and programming to generate the desired output and perform different functions . Hence, a computer generates the wrong output if a user enters incorrect input.
